In a tragic turn of events, an eight-year-old girl, Sydney Weston, lost her life following a medical emergency on a commercial flight, as confirmed by officials.

The incident occurred on SkyWest Flight 5121, a service run in collaboration with United Airlines, which was en route from Joplin, Missouri, to Chicago. The flight was forced to divert to Peoria, Illinois, roughly 45 minutes post-departure, due to the child's deteriorating health.

According to the Daily Mail, Sydney became unresponsive during the flight, prompting an emergency landing. "Her family immediately notified the flight personnel of her condition, and they began rapidly rendering aid," the coroner reported. Upon landing at the General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport, first-responders rushed to the scene. However, despite their immediate intervention, Sydney was not breathing and had no pulse, as per the coroner's office.
