In an unprecedented surge, the number of Chinese nationals attempting to illegally cross the southern border of the United States has seen a dramatic increase.

In the first two days of May alone, more Chinese immigrants were apprehended than in the entire fiscal year of 2021.

According to a report by Fox News' Bill Melugin, the San Diego sector of the Border Patrol apprehended approximately 485 Chinese immigrants in just two days. This figure surpasses the 323 Chinese nationals encountered during the entirety of the previous fiscal year. The report was based on information provided by a source from Customs and Border Patrol.

Melugin further noted that the "overwhelming majority of the Chinese are mass released as China is not cooperative with deportation flights from the U.S."

The trend of Chinese nationals crossing the US southern border has escalated alarmingly. Over 24,200 apprehensions of Chinese nationals have been recorded in the first six months of the fiscal year 2024. This surge represents a staggering increase, with the number of Chinese nationals illegally crossing the border skyrocketing by 7,000% since 2021. According to Fox News, this figure is projected to rise by 14,000% by the end of the fiscal year.

Earlier this year, reports revealed that the Biden administration has relaxed vetting requirements for Chinese nationals crossing the border illegally. Internal emails from U.S. Customs and Border Protection obtained by the Daily Caller indicated that border patrol agents were instructed to reduce the number of interview questions asked to apprehended Chinese migrants.

The exponential rise in Chinese migrants has sparked concerns about potential national security risks. China affairs expert Gordon Chang told the Daily Caller last year, "When I first saw the surge in Chinese migrants, that’s the thought that came to my mind that these are either Ministry of State Security agents or Chinese military, who are coming to this country to commit acts of sabotage against the US."

Echoing these concerns, Mark Green, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, noted that the majority of Chinese immigrants arriving in the US are military-aged males. Speaking at CPAC last February, Green said, "I think every American should be scared to death."

Green further commented on the concerning trend on social media, stating, "If we defend Taiwan, I can’t imagine there aren’t people in there who are going to be tracking our railheads and looking at our ports."
