In a recent gathering of far-left anti-Israel activists in Chicago, attendees applauded a failed drone and missile attack on Israel by Iran.

The activists were demanding that President Joe Biden cease U.S. aid to Israel. The attack, which was launched by the Islamic Republic of Iran, posed a significant threat to the residents of Israel, despite its ultimate failure.

The conference, titled "March on the Democratic National Convention 2024," was held on Saturday. It was attended by a coalition of far-left groups planning to protest the DNC in August with the aim of ending U.S. aid to Israel. Many attendees, who were masked, voiced their support for Iran's attack on Israel. This attack was allegedly a response to a recent Israeli strike that resulted in the deaths of seven senior Iranian military officials, including two generals, in Damascus, Syria.

The event was attended by dozens of pro-Palestinian activists who pledged to oppose U.S. support for Israel. The gathering was marked by chants and slogans advocating for Palestinian liberation and resistance against U.S. policies in the region.

Hatem Abudayyeh, a member of the U.S. Palestinian Community Network, drew attention to the collective actions of Iranian, Yemeni, and Iraqi forces against Israel. Upon his announcement that these factions may have also participated in the attack on Israel, the conference attendees responded with cheers and applause. They later chanted "Hands off Iran!" and what appeared to be a cry of "glory to the martyrs."

The event, clips of which are being circulated online, has sparked immediate backlash. Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas described the radical Left as "sick." Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) criticized the 'ceasefire now' advocates, stating, "They don’t want a ceasefire, they want #Israel destroyed." Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) labeled the pro-Hamas, ceasefire advocates as "vile antisemites who want to see Israel eradicated."

The coalition is currently planning a protest against the DNC in August. Their demands include the cessation of U.S. aid to Israel, the redirection of U.S. military funds, the legalization of all undocumented workers in the country, the defense of LGBTQ and reproductive rights, and community control of the police.

Several radical groups and individuals have publicly supported Iran’s recent attack. Iran, the world’s most prolific state sponsor of terrorism and one of the primary funders of the Hamas terrorist group, has long viewed the United States as a principal antagonist. The U.S. State Department estimated in 2020 that Iran pays Hamas and a rival anti-Israel terror group, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), $100 million a year. A spokesman for Hamas, Ghazi Hamad, confirmed on October 7 that Iran had offered "direct backing" for the terrorist attack on Israel.

Iranian Armed Forces Spokesman Brigadier-General Abolfazl Shekarchi has previously stated that America is Iran's top enemy. The Islamic Republic's "supreme leader" has claimed to have "defeated" the United States, promising a crowd of supporters that their "Death to America!" chant would be fulfilled as a "new order" would isolate the U.S.

As reported by Breitbart News, Iran attacked Israel overnight Saturday into Sunday with a swarm of over 300 drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. Most of these were intercepted by Israel's air defense systems, with the U.S., U.K., and Jordan also intercepting Iranian drones. On Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it had achieved a "significant strategic achievement" by preventing 99% of Iran’s drones and missiles from reaching their targets.
