Tesla's much-anticipated Cybertrucks, which have been delayed for a considerable amount of time and come with a hefty price tag, are facing severe criticism from disgruntled owners due to their frequent malfunctions.

These issues have arisen only a few months after Elon Musk's futuristic vehicle was launched.

Owners have reported numerous problems with the stainless steel Cybertrucks, including the vehicle breaking down after only a mile, unexpected hard-braking on open roads, and early signs of corrosion. These complaints were aired on the Tesla Owners' Club forum.

One Southern California-based owner shared his experience in a thread titled "Worst delivery in my life (truck died in 5 minutes)." He recounted that his truck broke down just a mile down the road on the same day it was delivered. He experienced steering errors, a flashing red screen, and eventually had to pull over and wait for a tow truck. The dealer was unable to assist him, and despite his attempts to restart the vehicle, the screen remained black and the truck kept beeping. This account was initially reported by automotive news site Jalopnik.

The owner had received the vehicle, priced from $80,000, a month after the highly-publicized trucks went on sale in December, two years behind schedule. The owner expressed his disappointment, stating, "Tesla really rushed these trucks out, what a nightmare."

Another user shared a photo of their Cybertruck's red screen warning of a "Critical steering issue detected." The user added that many trucks are experiencing high-voltage issues, rendering them unusable.

In another thread, an owner recounted an incident where his Cybertruck's auto-pilot feature appeared to malfunction as another truck approached in the opposite lane on a highway. The user, known only as Andrew, wrote, "My Cybertruck suddenly made a hard brake stop when we both have a clear wide enough space between us." He added that there was no vehicle behind him, otherwise a collision would have been inevitable.

On the Tesla Motors Club discussion board, a Cybertruck owner wrote a review so critical of Tesla's supposedly highest-tech vehicle that he was banned from the Cybertruck Owners' Forum. The Canada-based owner, JPinaJeep, wrote, "No, it’s not glorious. The Cybertruck isn’t a truck. It’s a toy truck at best, an experimental concept at worst."

JPinaJeep criticized the suspension for not handling bumps or potholes well, the steering wheel for being too small, and the headlights for their poor performance in the dark. He also mentioned that the windshield wipers were inadequate, and the windshield itself had a bad glare, leading to visibility that was "borderline dangerous."

Meanwhile, Tesla's website promotes the Cybertruck's futuristic exterior design and a range of 320 miles on a full charge. However, owners have complained about the vehicle developing "corrosion" and "orange rust marks" quickly. They also mentioned that it could take anywhere from seven to roughly 14.5 hours to achieve a full charge, depending on the charging socket.

YouTuber Kyle Conner, known as Out of Spec Motoring, was only able to reach 79% of the Cybertruck's target range, about 200 miles, during a livestreamed unofficial range test.

Despite these issues, Musk is already planning to make the Cybertruck capable of traversing landscapes. He teased last month that the electric vehicle may soon be able to function as a boat, stating, "We are going to offer a mod package that enables Cybertruck to traverse at least 100m of water as a boat."
