The former Biden administration White House Press Secretary criticizes the presidential hopeful for not appeasing the Trump base.

The Daily Caller reported that Jen Psaki says Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis fails to connect with former President Donald Trump's fan base.

On Friday's "Morning Joe" episode, Joe Scarborough said of the governor, "People are going to say he's awkward, he's not good with people, et cetera, et cetera." The show host thinks DeSantis could admit he's not a "reality T.V. star" like his formidable opponent to present a "compelling message."

Psaki said, "He certainly needs a path of his own," Psaki responded. "He is trying right now to appease the Trump base. He's been trying that for months. It isn't exactly working. So what you're proposing there … what others have called for … is the other path, which is: Can he reach the sane Republicans out there who may have conservative policy viewpoints, who may have conservative views, but don't want all of the crazy, which is somebody who's going to pardon insurrectionists … Is there a lane for the non-crazy?"

The MSNBC host continued, "Then there could be a debate about policy issues, and I think the Biden team would be happy to have that with DeSantis about some of his positions on issues like abortion and concealed carry."

She noted that DeSantis had chosen a different path. "There's been a lot of projection since November from many Republicans — and others who want an alternative to Trump — on the magic of Ron DeSantis … We have not seen the magic yet. So yes, he needs a different message, but does he have that kind of magical charisma quality that you need to be President? And we have not seen evidence of that at this stage."

This week, DeSantis threw his hat in the ring for the Republican Presidential candidate. The Daily Caller reported that in the 24 hours after, his campaign raised $8.2 million, with the first million raised in the first hour. Comparatively, in 2019, Joe Biden netted almost $2 million less by the end of his first day of declaring.

Janet Ramirez, a commenter on The Daily Caller, noted, "I would vote for any of my dogs over Biden because my dogs are consistently loyal, compassionate, and fair. I will support the Republican nominee, regardless of who he or she is. I don't give a crap about personal magnetism because our country breaks a little more each day, and Leftist totalitarians are shredding our civil liberties. This has been occurring for a long time, but the destruction is accelerating."
