G.O.P. contender Nikki Haley has sent a welcoming message to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as he prepares to enter the race for the G.O.P. nomination.

She gave an interview to The Hill in which she said: “Welcome to the race. We’ve been waiting,”.

Fox News reports that while technically, Ron DeSantis has not officially entered the race for the White House, sources familiar spoke with Fox News Digital and stated that the Governor would file official paperwork next week. The Wall Street Journal was the first to report this story to the world. If it comes next week, the filing will be in line with a meeting between the Governor and a meeting he is set to hold in Miami with some of his top financial backers.

Nikki Haley seemed very welcoming of DeSantis into the race and stated: “I’m glad that he’s going to be out there because I want the American people to see who they’re choosing from.”

Interestingly, DeSantis told the New York Times that he was one of three credible nominees for the White House going into the election next year. Regardless, many more candidates than that are expected to throw their hats into the ring for the nomination. He said: “You have basically three people at this point that are credible in this whole thing,” and “Biden, Trump, and me.”

Nikki Haley will have held 22 campaign events in Iowa alone by Friday. She officially launched her campaign for the White House in February. She denied claims that she is running her campaign to raise her profile to become a potential Vice-Presidential pick for the eventual nominee. Fox News reports that she said the following at the suggestion: “I don’t play for a second, I’ve never played for a second. I’m doing this to win it. I’m doing this to go and save our country.”

Nikki Haley is currently the only woman in the race and has stated that a federal abortion ban is “not a viable option.” She said: “The idea that a Republican president is going to go ban all abortions is not true,” and “So I think we have to be honest with the American people, not scare them, but tell them the truth and let them know exactly what is truly debatable and what’s not.”
