House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green stated that he has evidence of “potential fraud” committed by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Conservative Daily News reports that Green believes that his evidence could even be enough to be grounds for impeachment of Mayorkas. He gave an exclusive interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation on Thursday.

Green revealed to the Daily Caller News Foundation that he has confidential information from sources he keeps close to the vest about potentially fraudulent activity by Mayorkas. He would not provide additional details about the evidence he might have received from his sources.

Representatives Pat Fallon of Texas and Andy Biggs of Arizona, among other House Republicans, have previously filed impeachment articles against Mayorkas.

Green told the DCNF the following:

“We’ve got some people that are sharing some information with us that there’s potential fraud, so we’re going to look very hard at all of these things, prepare a packet, show it to the American people, and then if it warrants impeachment, we’ll hand it off to Chairman Jordan. I think it will, based on the information I know.”

Title 42 expires very soon, and the border crisis will worsen after that point. Even before the expiration of this order, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has already had 1.2 million encounters in the fiscal year 2023.

“I think if he fails to enforce the laws written on the books, that in and of itself is enough for him to [be] removed. He is in the executive branch. He doesn’t get to make the laws; we do,” and “And if he can’t enforce and live by the Constitution of the United States, why is he a cabinet secretary?”

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has not yet taken formal action to move on the impeachment of Mayorkas, but it seems like it is potentially on the table for him. Green said he was okay with building the case for impeachment against Mayorkas in the meantime and said:

“I’m quite alright owning that responsibility and doing it, but when [we’re] done with that, [and] my gut tells me it’s gonna be enough for him to not be in the job.”

A DHS spokesperson gave the following comment in response to Green:

“Secretary Mayorkas is proud to advance the noble mission of this Department, support its extraordinary workforce, and serve the American people.”
