Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, made some waves when he appeared to mock big-city liberal Democrats and suggest that they haven’t seen anything yet as far as migrant populations are concerned.

Fox News reports that Rep. Cuellar called out New York Democrats for complaining about the migrant people shipped to them.

During a recent Politico podcast, Cuellar said:

“The buses [that] they’re sending to DC, or Chicago or New York are just a drop of what border communities [face.] And they’re already complaining.”

New York City Mayor Eric Adams is among the most dramatic about the inflows of migrants to his area. He stated that the migrant crisis that the Biden Administration has seemingly done nothing about has “destroyed his city.” However, even Mayor Adams has recently moved some migrants dropped off in his city to Republican-led counties in upstate New York state.

When asked about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ policy of shipping some migrants to large Democrat-run cities, Cuellar responded. Cuellar clarified that it is “always good for people to understand what we’ve been facing at the border for [so] many years.”

The congressman was raised in South Texas and said there is a lot of resentment among many communities in that area and that no actions get put into place about the migrant crisis. He says there is a lot of resentment because many people in his community legally came into the country. Now, they feel forced to deal with the fact that migrants are flooding into the country illegally.

Cuellar spoke on this and said:

“[A lot] of first-generation American, mainly Hispanics in south Texas are saying ‘hold it, [we] and our parents came in through a long legal process,’ and they’re seeing people just come through the border and come in.”

He compared the migrant inflows to someone showing up at a house uninvited and making themselves at home.

He said:

“If I invite you to come to my house and have dinner at 6 PM, and all of a sudden you decide to show up at [12] noon, you decide to come through the back door, you decide to come through a window, you decide to bring 20 of your cousins, brothers, and sisters, I would probably say, ‘hold on, that’s not what we talked about.’”

Cuellar has also appeared on Fox News in recent days to discuss the border crisis as well.
