Fox News reports that the officer fired a foam round into the crowd during that incident.
Richard Ross Wiedo, a former Louisville police officer, admitted that he fired a foam round into the crowd during the event. He even admitted that the foam round hit one of the protestors in the face. He also said he fired another foam round after someone threw a bottle at him. The Department of Justice reported that Wiedo could not identify who had thrown the bottle at him.
Wiedo pled guilty to a misdemeanor count of using unreasonable force. According to Fox News reporting, this carries a penalty of up to a $100,000 fine. The plea agreement also requires that he gives up his certification to be a police officer and that he does not seek another role in law enforcement in the future.
