Several female inmates expressed fear and anxiety in being forced to share the same facility as trans-identified males, according to Reduxx. Miseka Diggs, an inmate, said women who speak feeling unsafe get put into protective custody.

She said: “We can’t express our feelings in fear of being put in protective custody, [which] is like lock-up. [If] you use the wrong words, you will [be] uprooted and removed from your living quarters. So many women walk around in fear.”
