The San Francisco State University President loses her mind as an NCAA champion swimmer speaks hers.

Following the event where Riley Gaines shared her thoughts on fairness in women’s sports and was allegedly assaulted by pro-trans protesters, President Lynn Mahoney chose not to condemn the violence.

According to Fox News, Mahoney said the event was “deeply traumatic” for the transgender community.

In a letter aimed at the campus community, Mahoney wrote, “Last Thursday, Turning Point USA hosted an event on campus that advocated for excluding trans people and athletics. The event was deeply traumatic for many in our trans and LGBTQ+ communities, and the speaker’s message outraged many members of the SF State community.”

The letter continued, “As we have seen here and at many universities, balancing these with dearly held commitments to inclusion and social justice is hard and painful,” Mahoney added. “To our trans community, please know how welcome you are. We will turn this moment into an opportunity to listen and learn about how we can better support you.”

While one might think a university President would be concerned for the safety of students and visitors to the campus, Mahoney chose to pander to the group promoting violence.

This was after the Vice President for student affairs, Jamillah Moore, emailed the student body to label the protest “peaceful.” To which Gaines fired back, referring to the hours she was prevented from leaving and physically hit as a terrifying ambush.

Chapter President of Associated Students, Karina Zamora, said Gaines’ speech was “hateful rhetoric.” Zamora called on Mahoney to “hold themselves accountable and host a community forum to hear how damaging these tactics have been to our student body.”

When speaking with Fox News’s Tucker Carlson, Gaines said she would not back down. She believes in her mission to save women’s sports from allowing biological men to compete against biological women. According to The Blaze, she has first-hand experience competing with trans-woman Lia Thomas in a collegiate swimming competition. Thomas is backing a regulation from the Biden Administration that would force states to allow men to compete in women’s sports.

Gaines received the backlash from the university “all for sharing my lived experience of competing against a male and why it’s harmful to not have sex-protected sports.”

In addressing Gaines’ efforts to leave the campus and the violence that ensued, Mahoney said it was an unfortunate “disturbance” that “delayed the speaker’s departure” rather than calling out the physical and verbal assault. Gaines plans to file a lawsuit against the university.
