Former Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) expressed his disappointment in the "sad" conservatives who proclaim their faith in Christ and all he stands for but still stand in enthusiastic support of Donald Trump, who is reportedly facing a criminal indictment for allegedly failing to disclose a $130,000 payment to adult film star, Stormy Daniels.

During a CNN interview, Kinzinger spoke to anchor Poppy Harlow about the potential political ramifications of the case. Harlow stated, "I think they're both pointing to real risks for Democrats and how this could be a political boon to the former President," and asked for Kinzinger’s opinion on the matter.

Kinzinger responded by saying, "Well, I certainly agree," said Kinzinger. "I've said from the beginning, I think this is going to secure Donald Trump's stature within the base GOP voter, which to me is actually really sad. Because these are people that profess Christ as their savior, that are now going to go out and defend a man that potentially, or is accused of, paying off, you know, a porn star, you know, to protect information about him, and then he lied to people about it. But I think it's a huge risk. If there was a preference, probably, if there was — you know, it would be like the federal case would come first or Georgia would come first, but that's not how the law works. The law works when you culminate an investigation and get an indictment through a grand jury."

He noted that it could act as a boon to the former president among his base of GOP voters. "To me, that's really sad," said Kinzinger, "because these are people that profess Christ as their savior, but are now going to go out and defend a man who is accused of paying off a porn star and lying about it."

Kinzinger further warned his Republican colleagues to wait for the indictment before deciding how to respond. "We don't know what the indictment is going to read," he said. "This is so unprecedented that this is all uncharted territory."

In his comments, Kinzinger highlighted the importance of adhering to Christian values, even when it comes to political issues. His remarks provide a stark reminder of the ethical implications of supporting a figure alleged to have acted contrary to the principles of faith.
