The former President is calling for a contest for citizens to create futuristic ‘Freedom Cities.’ The idea of flying cars and futuristic cities can be found in vintage TV cartoons, sci-fi movies, and back-in-the-day comic strips, and Trump wants to bring the concept to the forefront with new policy proposals.
The plan shared with POLITICO outlines the contest focused on designing and creating ten new Freedom Cities built on federal land from the ground up. There is also a proposal for investing in developing vertical-takeoff-and-landing vehicles.

The purpose is to create “hives of industry” to cut China off from importing goods and “baby bonuses” to urge potential parents to procreate.

Advisers to Trump acknowledge the new plans are different from the common garden variety, but Trump is known for proposing attention-grabbing proposals in the past. The advisors noted several bold proposals from past Presidents that were bold and changed America’s landscape, like Teddy Roosevelt’s vision for a national park service, Abraham Lincoln’s support for the transcontinental railroad, and Dwight D. Eisenhower’s support of the Interstate Highway System.

Trump’s goal is twofold.
