Despite the outrage that President Joe Biden has yet to visit the train derailment site in East Palestine, OH, he told reporters on Friday that he has no plans to travel there.

Instead, he referred to his administration’s response to the toxic chemical spill.

“You know, we were there two hours after the train went down – two hours. I’ve spoken with every single major figure in Pennsylvania and Ohio,” Biden said, “and so the idea that we’re not engaged is simply not there. And initially, there was not a request for me to go out even before I was heading over to Kyiv, so I’m keeping close tabs on it. We’re doing all we can.”

CNN reported the president kept tabs on the updates coming in from the disaster, even while he was in Warsaw, Poland, following his Ukraine visit.

Biden’s excuses did not appease East Palestine Mayor Trent Conaway. According to Fox News, Conaway asserted that Biden “doesn’t care” about the citizens of East Palestine and their public safety.

According to Fox News, when asked in an ABC News exclusive if he had spoken with the mayor, Biden said, “I can’t recall that - I don’t think I’ve talked to the mayor.”

During his visit to the disaster site, former President Donald Trump slammed Biden while assuring the victims, “You are not forgotten.”

Thursday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that Biden “is satisfied” with the response from his administration concerning the chemical spill. She criticized the “bad faith attacks” against the president and his crew.

A day after President Trump visited East Palestine, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg visited and was criticized for his delayed visit.

With the president’s presence in war-torn Ukraine promising even more taxpayer dollars while Ohioans faced threats to their safety, it’s no wonder East Palestine residents are critical.
