Some crimes are so awful in their gross nature that it is hard to overstate just how evil they are.

This is the case with a recent crime allegedly committed by a Florida woman who is said to have scammed an 87-year-old Holocaust victim out of millions of dollars. The Blaze News reports that the woman has been hit with a federal indictment that alleges that she scammed the Holocaust victim out of approximately $3 million over several years.

36-year-old Peaches Stergo of ChampionsGate, Florida, near Orlando, allegedly met the 87-year-old victim on a dating website approximately six or seven years ago, according to information held by the FBI and the Department of Justice.

Stergo is said to have used the alias "Alice" as she allegedly communicated with the victim on the dating website. She claimed that she had recently won a lawsuit related to a car accident that she had been in. However, she allegedly claimed that her lawyer would not release the funds until she paid the lawyer. She said that she did not have the funds to do so.

The Blaze News reports that the victim allegedly sent her a $25,000 check to help her out. Stergo allegedly reported that the money he sent was deposited into her TD Bank account. Damian Williams, the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, and Michael J. Driscoll, the assistant director-in-charge of the New York Field Office of the FBI, claimed that Stergo was never part of a lawsuit settlement as she alleged. They say she used that story to scam money out of her victim.

The Blaze News reports that on several occasions, Stergo allegedly claimed to need money to help get her accounts unfrozen. She supposedly told the victim that if her accounts were frozen, she would have no way to repay the victim. The victim wrote 62 checks to Stergo that totaled approximately $2.8 million.

The allegation is that Stergo used the money she received from the victim to spend on lavish vacations and luxury goods. Some of the things she allegedly purchased with the victim's money included a home in a gated community, a boat, a Corvette, a Suburban, several Rolex watches, and designer clothes from Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, and others. This is all based on the indictment already released in this case.

This is truly a sad allegation if it turns out to be true. We must all hope that isn't the case.
