Putting An End To "Burping Cows" Has Become This Billionaires' Recent Investment Endeavor

He has made it his mission to pay for a company in Australia to develop a way to keep cows from burping after they eat.

Gates wants to supply the millions of dollars necessary to develop a feed that would stop cattle from burping and adding methane to the air. People believe cows significantly contribute to the rise in temperature because of how much they burp.

$12 million will be handed over to the company Romin8 for them to begin working on a new food for cows. Trials and testing are set to begin soon.

David Messina is the managing director of the company. The Western Journal reported that Messina stated, “We have been very pleased with the reception we have received from climate impact funds around the world. There is a genuine desire to fund solutions to enteric methane emissions from livestock, and fortunately for Rumin8, they can see the benefits of our technology.”

The entire project is based on the notion that methane is destroying the climate. Gates founded the company Breakthrough Energy Ventures to help companies like Rumin8 dive into new ways of reducing emissions and enhancing technologies.

The Western Journal quoted Carmichael Roberts as saying, “The demand for sustainable protein has never been more apparent, which is why BEV is keenly interested in reducing methane emissions from beef and dairy. Rumin8 offers a low cost, scalable toolbox that has already proven effective in reducing emissions. Our team will support Rumin8 in working closely with farmers to expand the reach of this solution globally.”

Cows burp for a reason, and that is so they can rid their bodies of unwanted air. Rumin8 may target flatulence next since it also adds a ton of methane into the air.
