Natalie Gosnell is a professor at Colorado College.

She claims that the astrophysics field of study is full of racism and white supremacy. She claims that physics should be taught through what Fox News reports as the “lens of race.”.

Gosnell stated, “Both artists and scientists are just observing things about the world, making interpretations about those observations, and then sharing their interpretation.”

The sad part of her accusations proves that she cannot tolerate a difference of opinion within science. She claims that her colleagues do not have the same ideology as she does. She would love to mix art into studies, which she believes is being stopped by white people.

Fox News further reported that she stated, “As an astrophysicist, I’m a product of institutions that are steeped in systemic racism and white supremacy. The tenants of white supremacy that show up [in physics] of individualism and exceptionalism and perfectionism... it’s either-or thinking, and there’s no subtlety, no gray area. All of this manifests in how we think about our research and what counts as good research and important research.”

Science has no gray areas. The facts are either actual or they are false. Gosnell needs help understanding that point. She wants to introduce an ideology that would muddy science to be defined by the person conducting the study. That idea leaves the door open for the truth to become relative in science.

Gosnell wants to mix one study area with another to form what she sees as the perfect environment. She stated, “I think because science and art have been so separated, and there are [...] systemic issues within science, the metaphors that are often chosen [to discuss science] are very violent and hyper-masculine.”

The problem she faces is that both areas of study cannot be mixed because they are different. And the people that are trying to help her see the truth are being branded as racist because they have different opinions.
