Danger Close: Elderly French Man Detained After Officials Find WW1 Artillery Shell Up His You Know What...

A French hospital had to call the local bomb squad to dismantle a bomb that an 88-year-old man stuck up his rear. The older man thought it would be a good idea to see if the old bomb would fit.

The hospital had to be evacuated upon discovery of the military device. The older man thought it would be fun to try and do something unnatural.

The Blaze reported that the man used a “shell” about 8 inches in length and 2 inches in diameter. When the man was presented to the hospital and explained his condition, the doctors were understandably concerned and called a bomb squad. The adult and pediatric emergency departments were evacuated, and all incoming emergencies were diverted to other hospitals for a time.”

The Blaze reported that there was little risk of it detonating. The doctors that helped the older man had to remove it from his backside surgically. Some thought the device was nothing more than a collector’s piece.

The Blaze also reported, “One of the doctors involved in the surgery told French publication Var-Martin, ‘An apple, a mango, or even a can of shaving foam, we are used to finding unusual objects inserted where they shouldn’t be. But a shell? Never!’”

The Blaze says, “It was not immediately clear where the man obtained the shells, although they are now commonly used as collectors’ objects. The unnamed man is described as now being in ‘good health.’”

The man is expected to recover, but there is no guarantee that he will not try to do something bizarre shortly. We continue to be amazed at this story as it’s the first of its kind. I never knew that finding a can of shaving cream might be considered the normal for emergency room physicians!
