Aptly named, Flight 007, making its way from India to Britain, could have been a scene in a James Bond movie when a man stood up and announced he was taking over the plane, except this was a real-life situation.

Air travel has its ups and downs, and this situation was on the negative side of the aisle. On the flight, Hafhel Mohammed Al Humayed, a 51-year-old Saudi Arabian, reported by The Sun, had passengers in a panic. He began shouting and cursing that he was carrying out a terrorist attack on the plane and that Muslims would take over Britain as he attempted to reach the front of the aircraft. Unbeknownst to Humayed, a short distance away, sat Chris Phillips, the former Head of the National Counter Terrorism Security Office. Phillips, who was taking a nap, sprang into action without hesitation when he abruptly awoke to screams and sounds of a multi-person brawl.

After a U.S. soldier joined the fray to restrain Humayed, Phillips began filming the scene to gather evidence. Phillips took immediate action. As the soldier and stewards attempted to get Humayed seated, he suddenly broke free. Putting down his phone, Phillips tapped into his years of police training, grabbed the wannabe terrorist, placed him in an arm lock, then placed him in handcuffs.

Phillips told The Sun, “It was dramatic. I could hear the man on the floor shouting at the top of his voice.” There were loads of kids on the plane. People were perturbed. There was a proper fight for 10 minutes at 30,000 feet next to the aircraft door. About 30 passengers thanked me personally when we got off.” “It was Flight GF 007; we were laughing about this.” One witness said, “Chris was nothing short of a hero. We thought the plane might come down. It was terrifying. Chris was our very own James Bond on Flight 007. Once the plane landed at Heathrow, the passenger was taken into custody by armed police.
