The White House is adhering to the claim that President Joe Biden is out of the loop on all subjects regarding documents confiscated from former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence. If this is true, what does it say about an Administration that is not being informed of the 'high-level' activities of those within its cabinet?

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby already said Biden is "not involved" in Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines's damage assessment concerning materials found at Mar-a-Lago. White House press secretary Karine-Jean Pierre echoed that sentiment at Monday’s press briefing. And yet, if this is really the case, the question needs to be raised as to why the Biden Administration is not being told of actions that will certainly have a direct impact on them.

"The president hasn't been briefed on any of this," she told reporters.

Ever since the FBI completed its raid on Mar-a-Lago, the White House has taken pains to present the investigation as independent from political pressure. Yet, in doing so they are running the risk of seeming not to have any idea of what is going on - and at a time when there is evidence the FBI acted to suppress truthful information to help Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden's respective campaigns against Donald Trump, the White House being 'out-of-the-loop' is simply bad optics at best, alarming at the worst.

Biden’s team is also keen to avoid any impression of trying to harm a political opponent ahead of a possible 2024 rematch.

Trump was impeached for his attempts to extract information about Hunter Biden’s business dealings from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, though the former president was cleared by the Senate. Trump has also been slammed for his “Lock her up!” chants at 2016 campaign rallies over the federal investigation of Hillary Clinton’s State Department emails.

Since leaving office, Trump is facing a similar investigation for handling classified materials at his Florida home.

"We have not been involved in this matter,” Jean-Pierre said. She tried to avoid answering questions about any future developments in the investigation, any general views about declassification, or comments about the political impact.

Biden himself has been less thorough. “I just want you to know I’ve declassified everything in the world. I’m president, I can do — c’mon," he told reporters Friday on the White House South Lawn.

This was a facetious response to Trump's defense that he uncovered any important materials before leaving office.

Some liberal activists would like to hear Biden weigh in on possible charges for Trump under the Espionage Act.

Trump has also used the research to rally Republicans behind him ahead of a possible third presidential bid.

The unredacted portions of the affidavit endeavor to persuade the reader that the Department of Justice is on a good and legal footing. However, unless the edited portions have some sort of bombshell, this warrant could only ever be upheld because the probable cause standard has sunk well below what our founding fathers believed they were enshrined within the Bill of Rights.
