Former President Donald Trump’s approval has grown since the FBI raid of his Mar-a-Lago estate last week, according to a poll.

Results from a Morning Consult/Politico survey have shown the raid further prompted Trump’s supporters, extending the former president’s lead over Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) by 10 points with an overall lead of 40 percentage points, if the primary election were to occur today.

With 58% favorability among GOP voters, the poll showed Trump’s highest lead on record since his 2020 presidential election loss. Correspondingly, 71% of Republicans say Trump should run for President in 2024.

Trump’s mounting support is to DeSantis’s disadvantage, with a 5 percentage point plummet to 16% since late July.

The poll also showed voters overall are divided regarding their beliefs about what inspired the FBI’s raid of Mar-a-Lago. About 4 in 10 voters (39%), primarily composed of Republicans, said the raid was intended to damage Trump’s political career, while 49% believe the former president committed a crime motivating the raid.

The Morning Consult/Politico poll was conducted on Aug. 10, surveying 2,004 registered voters. The survey had a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.

President Joe Biden's two-week winning streak seems to be leading in polling data, which show a solid, if modest, jump in his approval ratings.

After dropping to 36.8% approval on July 21, Biden's polling average has climbed nearly three percentage points, reaching 39.6% approval against 56.4% disapproval as of Aug. 4.

Biden is expecting to break months of negative polling with possibly the most prosperous short stretch of his presidency. Yet, both his rivals and critics are still doubting his political future and, more promptly, the success of his party in the pending midterm elections.

"Any legislative victory is proving elusive given the political climate, so taking a victory lap for those two [bills] plus the [al Qaeda leader Ayman] al Zawahiri news is justified and well earned," said former senior Obama administration official and partner at 720 Strategies Tom Cochran. "Losing numbers in Congress is wholly expected not only in this midterm but all midterms going back decades. I unfortunately don't see a silver lining for the Democrats this November. Losing less seats than expected would be the best-case scenario."

The past two weeks of Biden's presidency have been defined by his capturing the Coronavirus and several Democratic bucket list legislative items getting passed.

The passage of the Chips and Science Act and PACT Act will allow the president to address two long-term political promises, extending healthcare coverage for veterans exposed to toxic burn pits and growing U.S. semiconductor manufacturing capacity. It also sets up vulnerable Democrats to campaign on two relatively popular laws heading into campaign season.
