Republican Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker vowed Monday to pray for the MSNBC contributor who proposed he was one of the “negroes” who would do what Republicans needed him to do.

The comments came from MSNBC contributor Elie Mystal, a Demand Justice board member who appeared on TV Saturday and talked about the Georgia senate race.

“A lot of people have been asking me to say something about the man on MSNBC that called me the N-word,” Walker announced in a video posted to social media. “Here’s what I gotta say about that: shame on MSNBC. And shame on him. I’m going to pray for both of them. Because they need Jesus.”

“When I saw what he said, it reminded me of the differences between myself and my opponents,” he went on. “Senator Warnock and the left-wing crazies that believe that America is fundamentally a bad country, full of racist people. They want to divide us, turn us against each other. We have our problems, but we can solve them together.”

Mystal announced Saturday that the election was going to be close because Walker was receiving backing from Republicans. “You ask why are Republicans backing this man who’s so clearly unintelligent, who so clearly doesn’t have independent thoughts, but that’s actually the reason,” he stated.

“Walker is going do what he’s told, and that is what Republicans like,” Mystal continued. “That’s what Republicans want from their Negroes: to do what they were told.”

Mystal continued that Walker presents “exactly as a person who lacks independent thoughts, lacks an independent agenda, lacks an independent ability to grasp policies, and he’s just going to go in there and vote like Mitch McConnell tells them to vote.”

Mystal, Demand Justice, and MSNBC did not immediately react to requests for comment from The Daily Wire.

Meanwhile, in the gubernatorial contest, incumbent Republican Gov. Brian Kemp led Democratic nominee Stacey Abrams by a razor-thin 45%-44% margin; four percent of respondents indicated that they'll back another candidate while seven percent were undecided.

In the survey, Abrams held 92% of Democrats, while Kemp had the backing of 87% of Republicans.

Nevertheless, unlike the matchup between Warnock and Walker, independents backed Kemp by a 20% margin (48%-28%), a clear edge that buoys the Republican despite Abrams thus far having done a better job of consolidating intraparty support.

While Abrams ran unopposed for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, Kemp had to beat back a challenge from ex-Sen. David Perdue, who had been backed by Trump as a result of the governor's denial to help the former president overturn the 2020 election results in the state.
